Connect 4

Win immediately: If you can make four in a row, take it.
Block immediately: If the other player can win next turn, block that column.
Control the center: Center columns usually create more possible connections.
Build threats: Look for moves that create two or three connected pieces with open space.
Avoid traps: Do not give the opponent an easy winning move on the next turn.

Take turns dropping pieces into the grid. The first player to connect four pieces horizontally, vertically, or diagonally wins.
